The Book

About Image

This book serves its readers with a delectable buffet of some of the major historical events that precipitated Ghana's independence struggle, from the late 1940s into the 1950s. The narrative is primarily based on the ac count of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in his book "Ghana: The Autobiog raphy of Kwame Nkrumah" published in 1957.

Through interviews with some veteran historians and political activists, however, a few more details have been added to some of the accounts to put them in perspective. If you are an avid reader, then this book is certainly an unputdownable collec tion for you! It will get you emotional and, perhaps, teary.

It will take you back in time and immerse you in the bubbly history of the Gold Coast. For a moment, you might get a surreal experience as though you were an eye witness to the pre-independence revolution. When that happens, do not fret, just keep calm and enjoy the nostalgia.

His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama

@ the launch of the book on March 5, 2012.

When I received my copy of the book, I was just about to travel. So, I decided to take it along with me. On the flight, I started reading and for two hours I could not put the book down until I read everything, from cover to cover. The story is so captivating and the illustrations are so illuminating. I sincerely wish to congratulate the author, Mr. Kweku Amoabeng Ortsin, for his exceptional prowess in storytelling.

Professor Kofi Awoonor

@ the launch of the book on March 5, 2012

The author truly deserves tons of commendation for this great effort. As a matter of fact, I really cannot understand why we have stopped teaching parts of our own history in our own schools. In my view, this is a book every Ghanaian and African child should read. I, therefore, recommend it highly for all JHS and SHS students across the country.

This is exactly what we mean when we say Nkrumah Never Dies. Today, I am delighted to see the story of Nkrumah retold in a manner that makes it easier for the younger generation to appreciate the struggle against colonialism and the struggle for the independence of this country.
